Our Mission

The mission of the American Kleptocracy Clearinghouse is to expose how the Trump administration abuses public power for private gain.

We aim to connect seemingly isolated scandals into a clear pattern of kleptocratic rule and to equip the public, press, and policymakers with the information they need to demand accountability and the restoration of democratic norms.

Who We Are

The American Kleptocracy Clearinghouse is an independent, nonpartisan project managed by a team of concerned citizens.

We, like you, are alarmed by the Trump administration’s unprecedented levels of self-dealing and attacks on democracy. We have worked in the US and abroad, including in dictatorships. We know firsthand what happens when corruption becomes business-as-usual and the leader and his cronies use government to get richer.

But most importantly: we believe that we are going to get through this. That’s why we are carefully documenting abuses and reporting on their real-world impact on people’s daily lives. We hope our work can support sustained efforts to mobilize citizens toward informed, collective action.

The database indexes reliable, well-reported, researched articles written by others media across the political spectrum. It highlights the sky-high levels of self-dealing, cronyism, and intimidation by the Trump administration. It is also searchable by the actors, agencies, and the patterns of kleptocracy, so you can see that each piece is part of a bigger picture.
